I adpoted the mantra &quot;Avoid ROOT at all costs&quot; sometime near 2003 for pretty much all the reasons outlined in the discussion above.  My life and good health is not worth the totrure that is using ROOT.</description>

One issue I ran into is functions that modify values passed by reference. Python was designed to avoid this sort of thing, at least for the fundamental types, and so you have to do some annoying array(&#039;i&#039;, [0])
